The Role:
We are looking for an innovative, numerical ecologist/data scientist to join our international team, revolutionising the way we monitor the marine ecology. You will take a leading role in the development of algorithms that predict the environmental status of marine sediments based on their eDNA-profile.
Our Ideal Candidate:
You will be experienced in writing code, in R, and applying this to various data handling tasks, particularly in relation to external data sources. You will be familiar with machine learning including random forests, and both uni- and multivariate statistical routines. You will have experience in packaging code into R libraries and making it available to non-specialists. You will be comfortable working with industry, regulators, and academia and the drafting, and presentation, of technical and scientific papers to a range of audiences. Familiarity with metabarcoding would be an advantage.
Contract Type: Fixed Term, approximately 2.5 – 3 years
Salary Range: £32,344 – £36,382 per annum (starting salary will depend on experience)
Location: SAMS Oban, Scotland
Working Pattern: Full Time
