CURRENT RESEARCH
The current research falls into 2 categories. First, investigations are addressing the application of fabricated nano objects in self-healing concrete, including the use and selection of suitable anaerobic bacteria which perform deep inside the concrete in harsh environments. Visualization of self-healing potential and measuring calcium carbonate production.
In addition, parallel work is being conducted on the fate and effects of nano/micro plastics on soil biota and food crops. Active research collaborations are underway with colleagues at the Beijing Normal University (BNU), China Agricultural University (CAU), Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences (SLU) and China Medical University (CMU).
PAST RESEARCH
The focus was largely on the application of fabricated nanomaterials in medicinal plants and their secondary metabolites production to overcome artificial sugar consumptions.
In addition, past work also focused on safety assessment regarding application of nanomaterials in soil environments and unveiling the co relation between macroporosity and hydraulic conductivity using tomography of soil columns.
