Job description and position requirements:
The Laboratory of Mark Guiltinan and Siela Maximova in the Department of Plant Science at The Pennsylvania State University seeks a highly motivated junior level Research Technologist to work in a molecular and plant biotech lab on Theobroma cacao. Must have experience in general plant biotechnology including tissue culture, plant propagation, greenhouse maintenance or relevant experience. This position will include performing general research support, preparation of reagents, and maintaining cacao trees in a greenhouse. Must be reliable, organized, flexible with ability to handle multiple activities and to reprioritize tasks.
Education and Experience:
Position may be filled as a level 1 or 2. The level 1 position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The level 2 position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Coursework in related fields (Plant Science and Molecular Biology) is a plus.
Strong attention to details, excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
