Job description
A two-year postdoc position is available at the Department of Industrial Biotechnology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be a part of a EU Horizon project and a Nordic Co-operation project in the team of Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Cetecioglu Gurol. The work for the EU project at KTH will include investigating ex-situ bioremediation strategies for PAH contamination in the marine sediment (the BalticSea) via biostimulation/bioaugmentation as well as developing recovery strategies (i.e. bioleaching and sequential recovery) for the valorization of phosphorus and metals from the marine sediment. The main research will be in the laboratory scale. The work for the Nordic Co-operation project will include monitoring of pilot-scale floating wetland system for the removal of excess nutrients from eutrophic marine water and providing coordination between project partners.

Requirements
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- A strong academic track-record, demonstrated by high-quality publications.
- Good communication skills and command of written and spoken English as English is the language that is mainly spoken at the department

Preferred qualifications
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- Proven ability to work in the following areas: anaerobic bioreactor operation, sediment characterization, microbial ecology, 16S rRNA sequencing, and bioinformatics
- Research experience on bio-based recovery strategies for marine sediment
- Collaborative international experience
- Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency
- Teaching abilities
